The New Works Lab's philosophy is a simple one: great things can happen if there is the time and the space to allow them.
Each residency runs a week long and concludes with a staged reading on the grounds of the American Shakespeare Festival Theatre. In addition to housing and rehearsal space for the week, the New Works Lab produces an Equity staged reading for each project, facilitating as aspects of production.
The New Works Lab provides all its projects with rehearsal space, administrative support, and casting resources. Each residency concludes with a professional staged reading on the grounds of the American Shakespeare Festival Theater. The New Works Lab provides writers and directors with housing accommodations onsite in Stratford as well as transportation to and from New York. Additionally, both writer and director are awarded stipends.
